Nana Kwesi Esiam IV, Chief of Whindo, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi is appealing to the government to fix the main town bridge and also to help establish a Senior High School in the community.
Speaking to Skyy Power 93.5FM, she explained that when the government launched the 1 District 1 Factory initiative, she gave out a vast land to be used as a factory in the community for free, with hope that the bridge will be fixed in addition to the construction of the factory.
Also, she made it known that the bridge is a very important asset because, Whindo is mainly a farming community, and farmers ply the bridge to their farms on the daily including some very important areas in the community.
She said “They have come to grade the land I gave out for the factory but nothing has been done to the bridge. The bridge is very weak now and is only supported by pieces of wood. Our fear now is that an unfortunate incident may occur which will take life or hurt someone and is bound to happen any time soon due to the state of the bridge.”
“Many government officials come to inspect the bridge and leave, after, we hear nothing from them again, I am pleading with the government this time, we need help,” she added.
However, speaking on the establishment of a Senior High School in the community, Nana Esiam disclosed that a land for the project was also given out which was accepted by the government but are yet to see any physical work done.”
Nana Esiam stated “The Whindo township is developing at a fast pace, we really need these projects in the town, a factory and a school. We have a lot of underprivileged youth who can take advantage of the free SHS and it will be a bonus if the school is close to them”
