Western Region to have 5 more recoveries ‘if second test proves negative’- Health Directorate
Western Region’s Deputy Director of Health, in -charge of Clinical Care, Dr. Atsu Dodor has hinted that about five (5) more infected COVID-19 patients are likely to be declared clinically ‘recovered’, should their second test results prove negative for the novel coronavirus.
Dr. Dodor explained in an exclusive interview this morning on the Jolly Breakfast Show that these patients have had their first test for the virus turn out negative, adding that they are being prepared for their final test before discharge.
“First negative result is in, and we are waiting for the second negative result before we can conclude they have recovered” he mentioned.
He added that more patients in the coming weeks are likely to test negative for the virus as they intensive their treatment of infected persons.
Currently, the region has confirmed only ONE recovery case from the virus. The patient was a Chinese national and a staff at Coastal Quarry Limited located in Shama District of the Western Region.
Reports from the Health Directorate reveals that a total of 111 persons have so far been infected by the virus; with the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis recording the highest numbers of 49 cases.
