Western Region: Mpohor road blocked by residents
Residents of communities along the Apowa-Mpohor road have today, 13th August, blocked the road to prevent vehicular movement on it. The blockade, which starts from the Pretsea Junction to the Mpohor town, is in protest of the terrible nature of the road.
The residents complain that since the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, cut sod to commence the construction of the road from Kejebir-Mpohor in 2018, no substantial work has been done on the said road by the contractor; JPP Construction Limited. According to them, the contractor has been lackadaisical about the project, and that has resulted in the road getting worse. They say since the President cut sod for the construction of the 16 kilometre Kejebir-Mpohor road in July, 2018, JPP Construction Limited have only been able to construct gutters of few meters in length, adding that it is unimpressive.
According to an eye witness who spoke to the Jolly Breakfast Show on Skyy Power FM Tuesday morning, the residents have put wood logs on portions of the road from Pretsea Junction to Mpohor town, and everybody willing to access the town from Takoradi and vice versa were seen trekking. He said the residents say this is just a tip of what they intend to do if government fails to fix their road.
