Over 90,000 Ghanaians in the Western Region were registered as part of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) Limited Voter Registration Exercise which commenced on June 17,2019 and ended on August 7, 2019.

Acting Regional Director of the EC, Mrs. Abigail Tagoe, who confirmed this to Skyy News, added that the process was without at major incident.

”It was largely an incident-free process, and we’re happy with the collaboration we’ve had with applicants so far. We registered about 90,000 people here in the Western Region. However, 161 applications were challenged, and of that number, 112 were cleared and handed their cards,” she said.

The Electoral Commission is presently replacing lost cards of registered voters, following the limited voter registration exercise. The exercise is currently taking place at all district offices of the EC in the region. Applicants must pay GHC 5 into the EC’s account at any Ghana Commercial Bank branch, and subsequently submit the payslip to the district office where the initial registration was conducted in order to acquire a new card.
