Western Region launches AVIATOUR, Minister urges partners to promote it
The Western Region Coordinating Council has launched the maiden edition of AVIATOUR; a business promoting strategy that networks the aviation industry and tourism so as to enhance tourists experience in the region.
AVIATOUR is a partnership of Aviation and Tourism with the objective of enhancing aviation, tourism and local travel for the operators and patrons in these two sectors.
It also provides and avenue for industry players to explore innovative ways of adding value and marketing tourist attractions in the region, and to a greater extent the entire country.
Speaking at the AVIATOUR Media Launch today, Deputy Minister for the Western Region, Hon. Gifty Eugenia Kusi stressed that the initiative would showcase the tourist realities and opportunities that exist in the Western Region, and promote same to the world.
“When our tourist sites are promoted and duly patronized, employment avenues for the youth will certainly be opened, and this will also boost the market for goods and services” she said.
She mentioned that some partnerships could be created to support and sustain development in the region.
“It can also make us develop partnerships with people and institutions outside this region, in furtherance of our development efforts” Hon. Gifty Eugenia Kusi remarked.
A regional conference is scheduled for Wednesday 2 to 4 October, 2019 at the Best Western Atlantic Hotel to discuss and present to the world what the region has to offer, and by which improve business and the livelihood of the people.
A master class seminar will feature in the conference on Wednesday October 2, 2019, and it shall focus on how to create a route and tourist destination of choice using the Takoradi as a case study.
From Thursday to Friday [4 – 5 October, 2019], a series of presentations and panel discussions on how to “Invest in the Aviation and Tourism Sectors for Sustainable Development” shall be held.
Other sporting activities shall also feature in the event.
