The Ministry for Railway Development has paid crop compensations due farm holders whose crops were destroyed as a result of the Kojokrom-Eshiem Rail line rehabilitation project. The compensation package amounting to GHC 205,940.00 was approved after a thorough valuation.
Payment of the crop compensation begun in 25 September this year.
Per documents sited by Skyy News, a total of GHC 12,923,140.00 was approved for the entire compensation plan for project affected persons and cost for the Kojokrom- Eshiem corridor on the Western Rail line. Below is the breakdown.

Crops GHC 205,940.00

10% Valuer’s Fee GHC 994,090.00
10% Legal Fees GHC 994,090.00

Compensation for lands, buildings among others, are being processed.
Skyy News have learnt that the Land Valuations Board of the Lands Commission has finalised all considerations for payment, one that the sector Minister, Joe Ghartey scored “is the right way to go to curb instances of corruption”
Mr Joe Ghartey has assured custodians of lands that have been taken over by the project, of honouring payment of their compensations before end of this year.
