The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Western and Western North Region has assured the public that they are working around the clock to fix the pre paid top up issue.
Speaking exclusively to Skyy Power 93.5FM on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Thursday, September 29, Mr Benjamin Quarcoo said there are a lot of households and businesses without power due the inability to purchase electricity prepaid credits within this week.
According to him, they are experiencing a system failure which their engineers are busily working overnight to fix.
Also, nobody or any business entity should bother going to any ECG office and vending centres to purchase prepaid credit this moment to save their time and money because when the system is restored, they will inform the general public through all necessary mediums.
Mr Quarcoo further added that they cannot confirm when the issue will be fixed but they are hoping it will be very soon.
Background:
Technical issues with the nation’s metering system are now being experienced by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which has prevented certain consumers from topping up electric power credit on prepaid meters for the previous three days.
Customers across 10 operational regional districts of the ECG in Volta, Kumasi, Accra, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, and Tafo have been impacted by the technical issue.
The issue first surfaced on Monday, and as of Thursday, it had not yet been fully resolved.
