Wayoe Engineering and Construction Ltd donates ₵27k worth of PPE’s etc to communities in their catchment area..
Wayoe Engineering and Construction Limited (WEC) – an indigenous Ghanaian company, has donated items to the tune of ₵27,000 to two communities within the catchment area of the company’s operations; Bokro and NyameYiekrom communities in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
The items include 1000 Veronica Buckets, 1000 reusable nose masks, and 1000 hand sanitizers.
Group General Manager, Isaac Aikins, who led a team to make the donation, explained to Skyy News that the donation formed part of the company’s support to the communities in their catchment area in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.
”At Wayoe Engineering and Construction Limited, we care about people in times like this, and the best way to show that care is by supporting people with what they need to survive. This is why we are donating to the communities in our catchment area. We hope that the communities will not only accept these items but also live with the consciousness of the severity of the situation. We need them to stay alive, so we hope that they will observe the recommended protocols strictly so that normalcy can return as soon as possible,” he mentioned.
While applauding Government’s effort in fighting the pandemic, Mr. Aikins also encouraged corporate institutions to support the state in mitigating the impact of this virus in the country, adding that fighting this pandemic is not the job of only Government.
”We appreciate what Government has done, but without our support, it may not be enough. That’s why I am calling on corporate organisations, groups and individuals to join in donating PPE’s and also to educate people too”.
Head of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) at Wayoe Engineering and Construction Limited, Humphrey Attiapah, also explained that the gesture was consistent with the company’s culture of safety.
”For us, what we are doing is only an extension of our everyday activities here. We work with the strictest of safety measures at Wayoe Engineering and Construction Limited, and we have scaled it up because of COVID-19. That’s why beyond the donation, we have educated our brothers and sisters in these communities on the need to observe social distancing, staying indoors, and only going out if it’s very necessary. We have also taught them to wash their hands as often as possible and avoid physical contact of any kind with anyone. We hope they will observe all these because we need everyone to stay alive,” he concluded.
