Africa’s fastest-growing Fintech company, Zeepay has joined forces with a technology company based in Takoradi, ICODE to create avenues for job creation for youths of the Western Region.
This relationship, which is believed to becoming on the back of good policies implemented by the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, is to help young people take advantage of these opportunities to create wealth for themselves.
Delivering his speech at the launch of the parynership in Takoradi, the Chief Executive Officer for Zeepay, Andrew Takyi Appiah stated that the rsletionship between his company and ICODE is one that will help the youth to have markets that they will find difficulties accessing on their own.
“The relationship will enable the youth to have access to private sector for market access, deepen the local economy through provision of hackathons, access to Government APIs for Municipals to simplify collection of property rates and other forms of taxes,” he stated.
He explained that they want to drive economic prosperity in the Western Region’s local economy by making a conscious decision to turn part of the area into a Financial Services hub of Ghana.
“This, we believe will contribute to re energising the area post the novel coronavirus and drive in the desired growth. Ladies and Gentlemen it is in support of this burden that we are here today. Today we are here to sign a Technical Cooperation Agreement between Zeepay Ghana Limited, the fastest growing fintech in Ghana and Africa, and ICODE,” he stated.
According to Mr Takyi Appiah, what makes this deal a landmark is the fact that two home grown companies have come together to sign a cooperation agreement that will make it possible for Zeepay to support ICODE with funding and technical support.
“We believe through this relationship the youth in the Region will not only have access to Zeepay’s Application Programming Interfaces (API) but also business mentoring, and employment generation,” he stated.
Mr Andrew Takyi Appiah revealed that Zeepay is supporting their partners, ICODE, with an amount to help in nurturing local start ups.
“Join me to congratulate Zeepay for taking this bold initiative to support ICODE with a donation of GHS50,000 towards monitoring and evaluation work, talent development and nurturing of local start ups,” he revealed.
