President Nana Akufo-Addo has mentioned that the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, are working to develop modules of learning; “that will stimulate the interest of pupils and students in engineering and technology right from the basic level.”
He added that some investments are being taken to improve infrastructure to support Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in the country. He detailed that some twenty STEM Facilities are going to be constructed across the country to enhance knowledge and capacities at the basic level.
“Government this year, is training some nine thousand basic school teachers in the delivery of STEM education. In addition, four thousand four hundred basic schools being equipped with STEM equipment. The construction of twenty STEM facilities will commence soon with the project also included the supply and installation of equipment and training of teachers and instructors.”
He said this during a presidential reception for the 2020 National Maths and Science Quiz (NMSQ) winners, PRESEC.
