Some students of the Takoradi Technical University have expressed concerns over the Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana’s strike.
TUTAG, on Friday, June 11, announced that its members will embark on a partial strike on Monday, June 14, 2021.
However, members of TUTAG in the midst of the strike are to teach, invigilate, mark examination papers and/or submit results and attend meetings of any of the Technical Universities.
Some students of TTU were interviewed on Monday, June 14, by Skyy Power 93.5FM to share their opinion and how they feel about the ongoing strike by their lecturers.
Not surprisingly, a student by name Mohammed Sadick in level 200 indicated the strike will affect academic works which will be to their disadvantage if the issue is not resolved on time. He indicated their course outline for the semester will not be exhausted because the lectures who are to guide them through have abandoned their duty.
“As we have the course outline and source of information, we will try and cover up, but we don’t know how that will be effective for us since there are no lectures to guide us through”, he said.
Also, an engineering student by name Emmanuel James Mensah explained the course he is reading is a difficult one and without the help of lecturers, it will be somehow impossible to maneuver through on your own.
He said, “The lecturers don’t care whether there was a strike or not, they have already set the questions according to the course outline for the semester and if we can not answer them, then we fail the course.”
This, and many other students expressed their frustration to Skyy Power 93.5FM as they are worried because they may fail the upcoming exams because they could not exhaust the course outline.
