Traces of lithium has been found at Dixcove and Sekondi in the Western Region of Ghana.
Prospecting is currently ongoing to mine the deposit on a large scale.
Regional Minister, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said this when he welcomed participants at the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) sensitisation program for large, medium and small-scale businesses.
GIPC is a unit under the Ministry of Trade and Industry that facilitate, develop and promote the export of Ghana.
The minister said, the region continues to be the natural resource base and the backbone of raw materials in the country and called on investors to take advantage.
He said, “The region has found traces of Lithium in Dixcove and Sekondi, indeed we have established value chain platforms as well, all our 14 MMDAs have a close network with the various MDAs and private stakeholders thereby creating a common platform to improve trade relations among businesses in our region.”
