Thirty health workers infected by COVID-19 in Tarkwa Nsuaem – Health Director

Thirty health workers in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality have been infected with the novel coronavirus, Municipal Health Director, Caroline Effah Otoo has confirmed.

According to her, these workers are responding to treatment; with most of them who are asymptomatic being managed at their homes. Ms. Caroline Effah Otoo says they are yet to determine the exact source of these infections

“We have thirty of our staff infected but we are unable to pinpoint the source of these infections. As you know, we are nor in community spread. So what we doing is to manage the cases. Some of them are asymptomatic and are being treated at the hospitals. The others, who are asymptomatic are being managed at their homes. We are hoping that they get well soon and return to us” she said.

She added that an enhanced contact tracing has been effected to identify other infected persons.

“All their contacts have been traced and we’ve taken their samples for testing and so we are waiting for the results. Those who test positive will be isolated and managed” she noted.

The Western Region has as at today recorded 421 cases, and 10 patients having recovered from the virus. So far only person has unfortunately pass away.
