Tema-Mpakadan: AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd. assures of completing rail project by June 2020
Indian Rail engineering firm working on the 100 kilometer Tema- Mpakadan Rail line; AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, is convinced of completing physical work on the project by June 2020. The project construction and engineering work is progressing steadily, creating a positive impression on the minds of Ghanaians and other stakeholders of government’s commitment to the revitalization of the railway sector.
Currently, a 300 meters bridge is being constructed over the Volta Lake for rail connectivity. Concrete piles are being sunk into the lake for the foundation of the bridge. General Manager of AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, Mr. Udai Veer Singh said the foundation will be readied by November 15 this year to enable them initiate fabrication and other rail engineering works across the Volta Lake.
Mr. Singh mentioned that the company has been compliant with local content, and is satisfied with the work output of the Ghanaian workforce. He said the company is working ahead of schedule to ensure that their June 2020 deadline is realized.
“We will complete it much ahead of schedule. We will complete the project by June next year. That is our target” he emphasized.
“The way we are progressing many people just can’t believe things can go that fast. Some think its a photo-shop when they see the images” Mr. Singh added.
