The Municipal Chief Executive of Tarkwa Nsuaem Benjamin Kessie today paid a visit to some communities in his municipality affected by floods following the recent heavy rains experienced in most parts of the region.
At Nsuaem, Mr Kessie also visited the family of the person that died during the flooding to commiserate with them.
He also made a personal cash donation to the victims and hoped it would sustain them till the support from the assembly is ready.
The Municipal Chief Engineer Ing. Ebenezer Anor Quarm on his part said geographically Nsuaem is a low-lying area and sometimes prone to flooding. He added that although gutters have been constructed to help with the easy flow of water, residents still dump refuse into the gutters choking them.
He, therefore, entreated the residents to stop that practice and use the refuse containers provided by the assembly to dispose of their rubbish. He also assured them that desilting work on the choked gutters will begin soon.
