Residents of Whindo, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region are calling upon the regional authorities to come to their aid as the only source of water for drinking in the community is being polluted by the galamsay activities.
This came up after a Skyy Power 93.5FM report in the Whindo community which some members expressed bitterness due to the nature of the only source of water. They claim a galamsay activity at the other end of the river which is in a different town of the Western Region is causing them this problem.
However, they are pleading with the Ghana Government and regional authorities to come to their aid and help provide them with portable drinking water even if it is a borehole, or any solution deem fit to help them resolve the problem. The river is their only source of water as they use it for drinking and every other activity.
