STMA to control haphazard car parking in central business district of Takoradi
The Takoradi Sub-Metro Director Nana Asempa Neye Yeboah says the haphazard car parking in the central business district of Takoradi is a result of some major roadworks ongoing in the Metropolis.
Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show on Thursday, he noted that according to his reports, drivers are facing difficulty manoeuvring around the market circle area which is a result of roads that have been blocked due to the construction of the PTC Interchange and the dualisation of the Sekondi to Takoradi road.
He said due to this situation, the STMA will begin a sensitisation exercise in these areas where the situation pertains
He said, “Due to these major road works, there have been roadblocks and diversions which have led to congestion of some streets and that is majorly due to haphazard parking… we are working on resolving this issue by decongesting these areas.”
Nana Asempa Neye further revealed that they are starting a new exercise to expand their on-street parking services to create more spaces for drivers and generate more revenue for the assembly.
“There are places that are convenient for car parking, so we will transform these places and include them in our on-street parking to create more space for drivers and generate funds for the assembly as well.”
