Each of the three public health facilities in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis; Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Takoradi Hospital and the Essikado Hospital, have had an isolation facility prepared to contain persons suspected to have contracted the novel COVID 19 disease.

Metro Director of Health, Dr. Tachie Menson, at a press briefing yesterday on preventive measures taken by the assembly to curb the spread of infection in the metropolis, stated that personnel at these facilities have been trained to deal with any emergent case, regarding the pandemic.

He however disclosed that the current stock of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all these facilities are insufficient, and thus the need to resource them as soon as possible.

“But we have been assured that we will receive more,” he quickly added.

Dr. Menson emphasized that each of the holding facilities are expected to hold any person suspected to have the COVID-19 disease, for about 48 hours until he or she is transferred for treatment, if test results confirms it.
