St. Mary’s SHS thief jailed 20 years
The Gender based Violence Circuit Court in Sekondi presided over by her ladyship Mrs.Abena Agyin Doku has sentenced a 29 year old man Richmond Arhu to 20 years imprisonment.
Arhu a loading boy at Apowa in the Ahanta West District was convicted on his own plea .He was charged on five counts of unlawful entry, stealing, causing harm, causing damage and robbery and pleaded guilty to all.
On the 15th of November 2019, the accused went to the St. Mary’s Catholic Boys Senior High School around 11pm, inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on Two Students Majeed Alhassan and Osborn Osei whilst they were asleep in their dormitories and took away some items belonging to them.The students were rushed to the Kwasimintim government hospital but were later referred to the Cape Coast Interbeton Hospital.
Richmond Arhu returned the next day but was chased away by the students.
He was later identified by one of the students and where he stays at Apowa. The police at Kwasimintim was later informed and his arrest was effected.
The presiding Judge Her Ladyship Mrs.Abena Agyin Doku giving his sentence, said base on the over whelming evidence presented to the court she has no doubt that the accused has been has attacking students in the school.
She added that his long stay in prison will serve as a deterrent to others. She ordered that items that were retrieved from the accused house which includes books, provisions, school uniforms,mattresses, provisions and shoes be given to the school authorities for the students.
