The genuine tale of how a radio station (Skyy Power 93.5FM) established in Ghana’s Western Region changed lives is told in the book “Absolute Radio.”
Phillip Nyakpo, the author and veteran journalist with 25 years of media expertise interviewed the Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional area in Ghana’s Western Region, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, who described the achievements of Skyy Power FM, after a quarter of a century of operating in Sekondi-Takoradi.
“Skyy became a place that educated us and informed us. Sekondi-Takoradi is probably the most pan-Africanist city in West Africa and Skyy, in a way, was like a pan-Africanist station because the guys who worked there came from diverse parts of Ghana, and they spoke as if they belonged to the Western Region. They helped this city to stand on its feet.” — Nana Kobina Nketsia V
