In line with the the Ghana Football Association’s demand and part of requirement ahead of fans return to match venues, Skyy FC organised training for 35 stewards who will play various roles during March days to enhance safety and security at ST Martin’s Park.
The exercise took place at the VIP section at the ST Martin’s Park on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April, 2021.
The instructors included Paul Kwasi Anyaba, the General Manager of the club, WO1 Asomaning, the club’s safety and security Officer and
Emmanuel Morrison Mantey, Head of National Investigation Bureau (NIB), Wassa East District.
Participants were taking through security arrangements on match days and the relevant regulations. They were taken through the demarcations of match venues and who qualifies to be where, and what qualifies one to access any area.
They were further taken through crowd management and control. Some violent incidents at match venues in Africa were cited and the causes were examined. Some violent incidents in the local league were cited and examined as well.
Again, the participants were taken through the nine directives of a Steward and the roles of Stewards on match days.
The stewards concept has been adopted by the GFA to further enhance safety and security at match centers.
