Music and dance engulfed the hearts of the fans of Skyy FC when they heard the team will play the maiden edition final of the Division 1 Super Cup where they won 1-0 over Accra Lions at the Madina Astro Turf.
It was end-to-end stuff throughout the ninety minutes where no clear cut chances were created by both teams, both goalkeepers were alert, defence very cautious and forwards were starved of the ball throughout.
Meanwhile, the coach of Accra Lions Rainer Kraft made sure the threat of Skyy FC was nullified by playing a 4-5-1 system.
Both coaches managed the game very well and it ended 0-0 in 90 minutes. The game travelled to extra time where the story changed, in the 96th minute, Skyy FC winger Emmanuel Eshun was fouled close to the opponent’s penalty arc, and a well-taken free-kick by Isaac Afful was very well received by the on-rushing Shaibu Tahiru but Accra Lions goalkeeper Appiah Kubi got the end of it and Baba Hamidu Musah pounced on the loose ball to make it 1-0 for Skyy FC.
The unrelenting Accra Lions never gave up and fought but it proved futile in 120th minutes. This means Skyy FC sets up a final showdown with Tema Youths on the 23rd of October 2021. Remember Tema Youths won 2-1 in the semi-final over Samartex 1996.
