Shama MP bags Doctorate Degree at Commonwealth University

The Commonwealth University, London, has awarded Member of Parliament for Shama Honourable Ato Panford , an honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.

The awarding ceremony was held on Friday 19 July, 2019 on Dubai. The honorary degree was conferred on him by the Academic Council of the University in recognition of his outstanding achievement in promoting business development in Ghana.

About Hon. Ato Panford
Hon. Ato Panford is Chairman of A. Panford & Sons Limited, a private owned manufacturing factory into the production of Fishing Nets and Accessories, Distillation of Essential Plant Oils and a Thermoforming and Injection moulds of EPS and GPPS material and extrusion of PPE films for the packaging industry.

Previously, he was the Managing Director of Expandable Polystyrene Products Limited in Accra and the Managing Director for Mandis Limited, an Agro-processing Industry, producing concentrated citrus (Orange and Lime) Juices and Distilled lime Oil for export to the UK and Europe.
He has over 25 years in Industrial Plant Engineering installing factories, running them and setting up Technical Management Teams to operate them.

He has contributed universally into Industry in Ghana and West Africa. He was the Vice- President of Association of Ghana Industries responsible for SME Industries. He developed the white paper for the Ministry of Education, Ghana in 2012 on the “Industrial Human Resource Gap” for the national debate and professed the requisite solutions which was adopted to modify the Technical and Industrial Gap requirement for the design of programmes for the Technical Universities in Ghana.

Currently, he is the Board Chairman of National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) appointed by the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He is a Council Member of Takoradi Technical University and Advisory Board Member for the Institute of Applied Science & Technology (IAST) of the University of Ghana, Legon.

Hon. Ato Panford is a Member of Parliament for Shama Constituency in Ghana and the Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry & Tourism.
