Sekondi MP submits nomination forms for 2nd term

Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer has submitted his nomination forms to the Sekondi Constituency Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party to contest the primaries in the constituency for a second term.

Accompanied by some poling station and constituency executives of the party, Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer presented a banker’s draft of GHC 20,000, and a filled nomination forms at the Sekondi office of the party to satisfy the requirement to contest in the parliamentary primaries of the party in April.

The outspoken Member of Parliament, by successfully filing his nomination, is in the process of savoring a second term in Ghana’s Parliament. He is currently in line of going unopposed as no one has, as the time of filing this report, picked forms to contest the primaries.

Speaking to Skyy News after submitting his forms, the Sekondi MP, nicknamed “Bobo”, indicated that his second term will further project the developmental needs of the Sekondi Constituency. He mentioned the redevelopment of the Sekondi Market and the expansion of the Takoradi Port to Sekondi as some of the projects he will undertake in his second term, adding that the Sekondi Vision project will materialize.

“The port expansion will be a major transformation agenda for the people of Sekondi; a lot of work has gone in there. The Sekondi market redevelopment will also take place. Indeed some investors have expressed interests and together with the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly are working assiduously to get more investors for the project.

“The university agenda is still on. The Ministry of Education and the government has plans to set up a TVET University. There are thirty of them to be constructed across Ghana, and parliament has already approved the loan facility for nine of them. We are working to ensure Sekondi is part of the remaining,” he noted.

He is urging party sympathizers to ensure a clean campaign devoid of character assassination.
