Christmas is a time of giving, time to share love and hope for a better ‘next year’. Unfortunately, not everyone get this treat- most especially widows who are often marginalized.
In making a difference in the lives of these people in his constituency, Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer fest with hundreds of them at the Sekondi Youth Center yesterday.
They dined and danced with him, all in way of rejuvenating the widows. On top of it, each of the over three hundred widows was given six yards of quality Ghanaian fabric.
Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer said the gesture is meant to support the widows and their families in making the best and memorable experience in the new year.
Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer asked them to support him with prayers, as he journey through his parliamentary life, and service.
“This is my small token for you this Christmas, I have been doing this in different ways every Christmas and it is through your prayers and support that has sustain this,” Mr Andrew Egyapa indicated whilst addressing the widows at the Sekondi Youth Center.
He implored them to take advantage of the free Senior High School policy by the Nana Addo led government and send their children to school.
“The President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has done tremendously well. He has implemented majority of promises made to Ghanaians in his three years of office. We are in election year and he will need the support of all to continue the good works,” he noted.
The widows thanked the Member of Parliament for the gesture and prayed for him to succeed in all his endeavors.
