Sekondi MP cuts sod for the construction of Community Center at Ekuas
The Ekuasi community, a suburb of Sekondi, will in the coming months enjoy the comfort of hosting events and other gatherings with no stress nor disturbance from weather and or dirt from the earth, as construction of a modern community center begins.
The project which is to be executed by Zimpaba Construction Limited, is expected to be completed within seven calendar months.
Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer told the media at the side-lines of a sod cutting ceremony last Friday that the project is being funded by One million dollar per constituency initiative under the Infrastructure for Poverty Alleviation Program. He hopes the facility when completed will serve the need of the community, as intended.
“consistent with the policy of the government to support communities under the one million dollar per constituency projects, the community requested for a community centre which we also submitted to the coastal development authority and it has duly been approved for the construction of this community centre. So, we are here to cut sod and introduce the contractors to the community so that the work can commence and it is estimated to commence between six to seven months. This project will be very beneficial to the community when completed,” he indicated.
When asked when other infrastructure projects being taken under the IPEP initiative will be completed, Mr. Mercer indicated he’s hopeful given the correspondence from the administering authority; Coastal Development Authority, some results will be achieved by end of the year.
