Sekondi Market redevelopment on course as investors visit site
The redevelopment of the Sekondi Market project is becoming a reality when a team from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) and investors visited the site.
The Sekondi Market redevelopment project is under the Sekondi-Takoradi Integrated Market Redevelopment which includes the Takoradi Market Circle redevelopment project.
The Public Relations Officer for STMA, Mr John Laste speaking on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast on Friday, February 10, said, together with the Central government and investors from South Africa, they visited the site to inspect and look at the possibilities of redeveloping the market.
He said, “It is not Sekondi Market alone that we are looking forward to developing but a lot of other projects including a Central Car Park around Takoradi and another modern terminal that will serve Kojokrom and the Nkroful area and other projects.”
“Currently, we don’t have a central commercial bus terminal in the city, as you can see most of the ‘trotros’ and taxis load on the street and with the project, we will have all the commercial vehicles at one place which will be part of the redevelopment project.”
Mr Laste added that the team of investors came with their architect and will make their design for the project and if it is approved, they will engage the necessary stakeholders and begin development of the project.
