Scholarship applications now digitized- Registrar, Scholarship Secretariat
The Registrar for the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Mr. Kingsley Agyeman has disclosed that, applications to their outfit are now digitized, and thus offer a greater and equal opportunity for beneficiaries.
An online portal, have been opened to receive applications from eligible persons across the country, thereby putting to an end to the direct and manual applications to the district assemblies.
Government in 2018 adopted a more decentralized system for scholarship applications for studies at tertiary education levels in the country.
Mr. Kingsley Agyeman in an exclusive interview on the Jolly Breakfast Show this morning, disclosed that a total of thirty-two thousand, eight hundred and fifty beneficiaries were recorded for the 2019/2020 scholarship year.
He added that the impact and feedback have been impressive, adding that funding about for the next academic year (2020/2021) have doubled relative to the previous year.
“This year a whopping amount of GHC80 million have been allocated by government. This is a 100 percentage increase to what was provided last year” he stressed.
He took the opportunity to entreat interested but eligible applicants to enroll before the portal is shut [on May 15, 2020].
