A member of Citizen Ghana Movement (CGM), Ato Bonful wants President Nana Akuffo Addo to either sack or suspend board members of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to ensure they do not interfere with investigations into the conduct of Adjenim Boateng Adjei.

President Akuffo Addo, in a statement yesterday, wrote to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu to investigate corruption allegations made against PPA boss, Adjenim Boateng Adjei. The latter has subsequently been invited by Martin Amidu to ‘‘assist in the investigations pursuant to section 29 and 73 of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959) and Regulation 10 of the office of the Special Prosecutor (Operations) Regulations, 2018.’’

Despite these developments, Mr. Ato Bonful fears the process may be impeded if the current Board still hold on to their respective offices. Speaking on the Jolly Breakfast Show Friday morning, he explained that ‘‘we expect that the Board will be asked to step aside (by President Nana Akuffo Addo) so that nobody can impede or influence the investigations into the matter.’’

The PPA Boss, through a company under the name Talent Discovery Limited, established in June 2017, allegedly won some government contracts through restrictive tendering, and further sold them to third parties for a percentage of the contract sums. All these were revealed in a documentary by investigative journalist, Manasseh Azuri Awuni, titled “Contracts for Sale”

In the 46-minute documentary, it also emerged that the company has been engaging in the sale of contracts, and was prepared to sell a contract worth a ¢22.3 million to K-Drah – a fake company created by Manasseh as part of his undercover investigations, for eighteen percent (18%) of the contract sum.
