The Ghana Police Service have begun investigations into the murder of a 40 year old mason at Kweikuma, a suburb of the Sekondi in the Western Region. The deceased, whose name was given as Kofi Eric, according to residents was shot dead by suspected armed robbers this dawn, around 3 am in his uncompleted apartment in the neighbourhood.
Wife of the deceased, Akua Antwiwaa told Skyy News’ Nana Yaw Kumi that the robbers were in their hideout at an uncompleted building adjacent theirs. She disclosed that the robbers were spotted to have hoarded some stolen items in that building, and they decided to alert the neighborhood so as to nab them.
Unfortunately, the robbers without hesitation and mercy fired multiple gunshots into the chest of the deceased for blowing their cover.
“He [Kofi Eric] was shot several times. He rushed to the main entrance of the building in agony…blood was oozing from his chest. We called for help. No one came. One of our neighbours pursued them as they drove out of the area in their vehicle, trying to get their plate number…but he couldn’t. The entire area was very dark” she cried.
“We rushed him to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival” she added.
The body has since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital’s morgue.
