The Greater Accra Region’s Kpone-Katamanso Municipality’s surveyors are allegedly being protected on a piece of land in Katamanso by a police service patrol team, according to an investigation being conducted by the police.

On September 6, 2022, at Lakeside Estates in Accra, a patrol team driving a service vehicle with the license plate GP 175 was allegedly seen on the property with individuals ostensibly working as private security guards protecting some surveyors plotting site plans.

Attorneys from Ahmed Legal Consult petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding the alleged act, which prompted the investigation.

“We write for and on behalf of Okley Family to humbly request the urgent intervention of your good offices to investigate and immediately halt the repeated and illegitimate use of Police authority and armed wielding land guards in attempts by some faceless developer, in continuously committing acts of trespass on our client’s land,” the petition said.

“This faceless developer’s basis of the claim is unknown but he relies on arms wielding land guards that are forcefully and unlawfully rendering support and security services led by a certain developer under the cover of a private security.”

According to the petition, a police car with the license plate GP 175 provided assistance to the security firm during their operations.
