Passion for Needy, a Non-Governmental Organization, on Tuesday donated assorted items to the Christ Faith Foster Home at Frafraha in Accra.
The items are 60 bags of rice, five cartons of spaghetti, five cartons of mackerel, five cartons of tomato puree, 50 litres of cooking oil, and five crates of bottled water,
The rest are five crates of soft drink, three bags of washing powder, two cartons of bar-soap, 10 gallons of liquid soap and 14 packs of toilet rolls.
The NGO renewed its monthly supply of water to the Home and presented a package of hot meals with soft drinks and water to the inmates during an interaction.
Mrs Janet Torgbor El-Aschkar, the Chairperson of Passion for Needy, said the gesture was part of the Organization’s annual Founder’s Day by Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, to address challenges faced by the Home and also celebrate his birthday which falls on June 12.
She said the Organization’s relationship with the Home started almost a decade ago and that one of the challenges facing the Home during its initial visit was the provision of potable water.
“We were informed about the quality of water that was available at the Home and we saw the need to arrange for the monthly supply of water to mitigate the situation while the service providers try to resolve the problem in the community,” she said.
This arrangement, she said, continued for years until the completion of the Dodowa Pipeline Project, which expanded water supply to all nearby communities, including the Home.
Mrs El-Aschkar said the Organization’s attention was drawn by the facility recently for the need to resume the monthly water supply since the continuous maintenance work that was ongoing by service providers had resulted in an inconsistent supply of water to the Home.
Mr Kophy Adu-Boahene, the Director of Christ Faith Foster Home, commended the NGO for the gesture and appealed for support from corporate institutions to continue with the vision of providing a future to the vulnerable in society.
