Over 200 COVID-19 cases were recorded within 5 days in Western Region
Over 200 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the Western Region within a period of 5 days.
Speaking to Dr Gifty Amugi, who is the Deputy Health Director in charge of Public Health Care said, “Two weeks ago, Covid active cases in the Western Region were less than ten (10) but since 23rd of December, over 226 active COVID cases have been recorded.”
“About 6 people with severe cases are in the treatment centre receiving treatment and we have not been able to determine if these over 200 cases has any case of the Omicron virus”.
She also urged all residents to make sure to take the Covid vaccines and that they are in abundance and also follow the Covid protocols for everyone to be safe out there.
Also, according to records from the Ghana Health Service, only 34% of residents in the Western Region are vaccinated against the deadly Coronavirus.
Speaking to Dr Gifty Amugi made it known that the populace of the Western Region is about 1,444,730, however, the populace that is vaccinated are only 494,854.
However, those who are fully vaccinated according to the statistics are 9.5 per cent with the rest being those who have taken one dose.
