The National Democratic Congress Party (NDC) in Wassa Amenfi East has refuted claims by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators that the current member of parliament, Hon Nicholas Amankwah, does not give the NPP in Wassa Akropong credit for the ongoing construction of Astroturf projects in the district.
The project was started in February 2018 when Hon, Patrick Kwame Bogyako Saime was the Member of Parliament (NPP) before the NDC parliamentary seat takeover in December 2020 elections.
Responding to accusations on social media platforms, Thomas Dindiego (NDC Communication Officer in Amenfi East) described the allegations as a “weak attempt to cast a slur on the good works being engineered by Honorable Nicholas Amankwah”. He insisted that the MP will not ‘steal’ projects executed by the New Patriotic Party in the area. The NDC Communication Officer entreats Waasa Amenfi East residents to disregard the accusation with the utmost contempt it deserves.
Mr. Thomas Dindiego refuting the claims stated unequivocally that the views of Samuel Ayitey are entirely his and in no way reflect that of the MP, adding that, Samuel Ayitey is not a member of the Amenfi East NDC Communications Bureau.
According to him, Honorable Nicholas Amankwah has not, on any occasion, taken the credit for the ongoing construction of the Astroturf at Wassa Akropong”. He assured that the MP has taken a keen interest in all ongoing projects in the constituency, as will any well-meaning MP.
Setting the record straight, the communication officer pointed out that for some time now works on the Wassa Akropong Astroturf have stalled, therefore, the MP contacted the contractor to find out what was cause to see how best to address the challenge.
The contractor told the MP that they was working on another project and will resume work on the project at Wassa Akropong once he was done. The contractor added that accommodation for his workers was also a challenge.
Mr. Thomas Dindiego said that the MP promised to provide accommodation for the contractor and his workers; a promise he subsequently honored. The contractor and his team returned to Amenfi East on Friday, July 23, 2021, around 10pm and were offered accommodation in a rented two-bedroom apartment.
He said that the Astroturf, when completed, will not be used by members of the NDC or NPP only but by all the people of Amenfi East and people from outside the constituency.
Therefore, he said, it would be instructive for everyone to support the efforts being made and do away with anything that will be a drawback to the project.
