One day wonder? COVID 19 Screening at Inchaban suspended
It was the talk in the Oil City, when news broke of some screening exercise being taken at by a medical team at the Inchaban Police Barrier yesterday. Passengers aboard vehicles heading for the city, had their temperatures check by the team mobilized by the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
The rationale was to quickly identify and isolate person who have temperatures above the normal threshold, and or with symptoms of the deadly coronavirus.
The exercise started early enough Sunday morning, running throughout till evening. The hopes many had was to see this exercise continue for ‘God knows when’ the disease is eradicated from the country.
But this news distills a sense of disappointment in the minds and hearts of the reader. The entire medical team have been moved. Screening has been suspended!
Skyy News’ Abraham Mensah visited the scene this afternoon only to see the very space used for the screening yesterday empty.
It was just the police personnel doing their routine vehicular checks at the barrier. The simplest conclusion that came to mind was- ‘Its just a One Day wonder’.
Upon further investigations, I came to realise the exercise was deemed a ‘duplication’ of a similar one which started yesterday noon at the Asem Asa Tollbooth [an initiative of the Western Region Minister], and had to be suspended.
