NPP’s Takoradi constituency treasurer shot dead!
The Takoradi Constituency Treasurer for the New Patriotic Party, Mark Ofori, has been shot dead.
Mark Ofori was shot in the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at his residence near Mbodzenbo Hotel at Fijai.
Sources say, gunshots were heard around 4:00 this morning which drew residents attention residents attention who subsequently came out to see the deceased lying down in a pool of blood. He was subsequently rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he was confirmed dead at half past 4:00 am.
Mark Ofori was found lying down with blood all over the floor.
The late Mark Ofori’s residence was 100 meters away from the scene of an earlier shooting incident where a security man was allegedly shot by the same suspect.
That apartment has been identified to be that of the Western regional Minister Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah’s in-law.
The security man, identified as Mr. Obeng was said to have been shot around 1:00 am after shouting for help upon seeing the suspect who he believed to be a thief.
A source which confirmed the unfortunate incident to Skyy News revealed that prior to Mark Ofori’s passing, he consistently gave clues about attempts to kill him. The source addeed that he often took to social media platform; WhatsApp, where his status updates were about fears that some individuals who he did not name, were after his life.
It is however unclear if these incidents were reported to the Police by the deceased or by his family. Mark Ofori was 34 years of age and is succeeded by a wife and two children.
He has been the constituency treasurer for the e party in 2017.
