NPP to hold primaries on 20 June

Information reaching out of the National Executive Council meeting of the ruling New Patriotic Party this afternoon has it that, leadership is concluding on conducting it’s delayed primaries on June 20th this year.

The deliberations taken so far, according to a trusted source may settle on the said date. Matters regarding how the primaries will be conducted without breaching social distancing protocols issued by government is also before the leadership.

Proposals are being discussed by the party as to how delegates could be contained in each of the Constituencies where the elections will be taken.

It is expected that the General Secretary of the party, John Boadu will issue a communique soon or later this evening on the resolutions taken. This will enable all regional and constituency executives of the party prepare adequately for the event.

The meeting comes on the heels of the phased easing of restrictions detailed by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last Sunday.

The primaries was originally scheduled to come off on April 25 this year but was suspended indefinitely owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
