NPP Primaries: I’ll beat my contender with 90%+ votes from delegates- Shama MP
Member of Parliament for Shama, Hon. (Dr) Ato Panford is convinced of retaining his candidature on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency, with the coming primaries. The legislator is confident of defeating his opponent; Lawyer Samuel Erickson Abakah with over 90 percent votes that will be cast on the day of the primaries.
He boasted that his opponent in the 2016 primaries was beaten by 82 percent votes, and given his works over the years, is optimistic is being granted a resounding victory this time round.
“My target this time is to stretch it up to over 90 percent. And I believe that it will not come from me but the good people who are the delegates of the party, to repose that confidence in me for me to go back and then ensure we win that general elections” he said.
He added that, it was the wish of the masses, that, he would be affirmed for a second term without any contest by the delegates.
“Ato Panford believes in contest. In fact, some were saying that- we want you to go unopposed- and I said no, I believe in contest. It makes you clean, and it makes you know your strength. And so I want to know my strength and the confidence the people have in me” Dr. Panford explained.

He appealed to the delegates to grant him another term to continue the good works in the constituency. He also urged his supporters to refrain from insults as they could mar the fortunes of the party in the coming elections.
“This is going to be one of the most decorous campaigning. I have entreated my followers and supporters that we going to run a very decent campaign… a campaign devoid of insults, attacks, a decent one that befits my character and persona and the people of Shama” he assured.
