The National Democratic Congress in the Esikadu Ketan Constituency of the Western Region has filed a petition at the Sekondi High Court, to Challenge the 2020 Parliamentary election results declared by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
The 2020 parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress in the constituency, Dr. Grace Ayensu Dankwa made the revelation on Skyy Power FM’s Jolly Breakfast show in Takoradi.
Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah indicated that she decided to contest the result after consultation with some patrons of the Party.
Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah indicates that she is praying the court to annul the entire results on the grounds that the collation was done to favor Mr. Joe Ghartey.
“I have always complained about the fact that I won the election but they declared Joe Ghartey instead. I have gathered all the evidence and together with my lawyer, we have filed the case in court.
We want the court to compel the Electoral Commission to organize a re-run of the election in the constituency”. Dr. Grace Ayensu noted.
Lawyer for Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, David Ametefe indicates in a separate interview that the election was full of irregularities, and infractions.
“The complaints have been lodged at the Sekondi High Court. Conditions have been satisfied and Dr. Grace Ayensu Danqua is contesting the election of Mr. Joe Ghartey as the Member of Parliament for Esikadu Ketan.
There were so many irregularities and illegal acts that we have outlined in that petition. We are also seeking an annulment of votes and obviously, when that happens, a rerun of the election between Dr. Grace Ayensu Dankwa and Joe Ghartey will occur”. Layer David Ametefe indicated.
He indicates that they are urging the court to organize a re-run of the election between Mr. Joe Ghartey and Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah.
