The Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II, has been accused by the St. Andrews Anglican Church of Bibiani for chasing the church members with ‘machomen’ over a plot of land.
Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi II, who is also the President of the National House of Chiefs debunked all allegations against him by the church.
Speaking on Adehye FM in Bibiani, he said, “Why should I even chase someone with ‘machomen’? the truth is that a few days ago, I heard Bibiani Anglican Church were demarcating some parcel of land meant for their new church building, I did not believe it so I went there myself to ask them to end it because the land was not destined for such purpose but they refused.
Later on, I heard they have hired some ‘machomen’ to guide them to proceed with their activities of which I sent my boys to confirm that’’.
Adding, to that, he indicated a delegation was sent to the Bishop of Sefwi Wiawso Diocese, Very Rev. Kwame Kyem Ampomah and the Anglican Parish Priest of Bibiani to appear before him, but none of them showed up so he reported the case to the police, but the church refused to obey the orders of staying off the land.
He also said, “What I have seen is that majority of the churches want to abuse some powers, these are lands meant for educational purposes and not for commercial use, we won’t allow any church to build at a residential area,”
The Paramount Chief told the general public to disregard all false information.
