Telecommunication giants MTN Ghana, through the MTN Foundation, has held its annual Blood Donation Exercise at Market Circle in Takoradi.
For almost a decade, The MTN Ghana Foundation has set aside February 14, for its annual #SaveALife Blood Donation Exercise. Through the campaign, MTN Ghana encourages its staff, customers and members of the genera public to show love during the month of love by donating a unit of blood each year on Sat Valentine’s Day.
The campaign has immensely contributed the various blood banks, providing tens of thousands of units of blood over the years. Last year, it exceeded its target of 3,500 units of blood by collecting 4,449 units of blood. The target this year is to raise 5000 units of blood from all 16 regions with the support of its staff and members of the general public.
The process is currently ongoing at the Takoradi Market Circle at the MTN Service Centre. Some donors who spoke to Skyy News shared their joy in donating to save lives.
”Donating blood is something that fills me with pride because I know it will save lives and I thank MTN Ghana for giving us the opportunity to be part of this” one of the donors said.
”As for me I donate because I know my wife will need blood when she is in labour and also some of my relatives may need blood. So it is important that we fill the blood bank in order not to lose lives in case of emergency” another donor said.
