MTN FA Cup finals lived up to its expectation – FA Cup Chairman

The MTN FA Cup finals climaxed with Accra Hearts of Oak beating Bechem United 2-1 to retain the title on Sunday, June 26, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

According to the FA Cup Chairman, Mr Wilson Arthur, the finals lived up to its expectations as the gate was not opened for free at the FA Cup final yet attendance was very good. It took strategic public relations activation by engaging Otumfour, Regional Minister, Mayor of Kumasi and Hon Assembly Members to commit them to support the final event.

Trophy tour to Chem Palace, Tepa Palace and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bechem resulted in 30 Buses sponsorship plus tickets for supporters to patronise the match.

Hearts of Oak supporters in Kumasi were engaged to motivate them. Tertiary Moral Group toured radio stations drumming and charging Hearts of Oak fans in Kumasi and other communities.

Trophy Tours of Radio stations and TV stations in Accra and Kumasi paid off.

Packaging of entertainment content as in opening ceremony cultural performance, 4BN Regimental Band Trophy Entry Performance and National Anthem delivery coloured the event.

The visibility branding by MTN and powerful PA, good DJ performance, Lil Win performances and fastest fingers gifts galore enhanced the experiential value soccer fans enjoyed.

The match itself lived up to the billing as the first half ended in a 1:1 setting up a promising second half.

The second half did not disappoint with a thrilling competition that saw Afriyie Acquah’s match-winner goal overcoming the youthful Bechem United side.

The bliss medal ceremony performed by the Chief Justice of Ghana, Vice Chairman of GFA, Chairman of FA Cup Committee and the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN ensured quick flow and the funfair performed by the Military Band alongside the fireworks made the trophy handing over and celebration a spectacular climax.
