Telecommunication giant MTN Ghana, as part of its 21 Days of Y’ello Care employee volunteering programme has organized a capacity-building programme for traders, hairdressers and seamstresses in Takoradi.

The annual event aims to secure high participation levels of MTN Ghana staff in high-impact social projects to uplift and empower the local communities in which the company operates.

Speaking on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Prince Owusu Nyarko Senior Manager of Regional Sales, South West of MTN said Y’ello Care is to help the Company give back to the communities in which they operate and this year is unique because it is focused on building the capacity of young people “this year is a unique one. We are trying to build on the knowledge and intellect of the people that we work with. So we are giving back to them things like financial training, social media awareness, digital literacy to ensure the people within the community pay attention to customer experiences just to make sure they are growing their business”, he said.

He added that after the capacity-building exercise, they expect that beneficiaries will use the skills gained to expand and grow their businesses.

Participants were taken through digital education, customer experience and how to use social media to grow their businesses.
Some of them also shared their experiences with Skyy News, “we didn’t even know that we can sit at home and do business with our customers. We have learnt a lot about social media also”, they added.
