The various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies have stepped up efforts in setting up isolation centers to manage and contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The rate at which the disease is rising in the region is quiet alarming, making it the third worst hit part of the country. A latest report indicates that a total of 902 persons have contracted the novel coronavirus. Only the Amenfi Central and Amenfi East Districts are yet to record a case.

Western Region Minister, Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah says the various assemblies have been tasked to act quickly to salvage the situation.

“Virtually, all the districts have an isolation center. Initially when the numbers were not large we decided to zone them but as the numbers were going up we to encourage every district to set up their own isolation centers” he explained.
