The second round of the Division One League starts next weekend and it was imperative for Skyy to keep their shape following the short break. Dolphins FC, on the other hand is fine tuning preparation towards the Commencement of the Regional Division Two league. The two engaged in a friendly exercise at the ST Martin’s Park in a game the visitors were very optimistic of beating the home team but the end turned out to be something else.
Coach Malik, conspicuously, decided to give playing time to the new signings and the old ones who haven’t had enough playing time. Aside Emmanuel Ansah and Isaac Afful who have been regular starters this season, the others 9 starters were either new players or reserve players.
Emmanuel Ansah kept the posts Samuel Arthur and Isaac Afful at the right and left backs respectively. Newbies, Emmanuel Assafuah and Samuel Kamelah paired at the heart of defence. Shaibu Tahiru, Isaac Donkor, Vincent Bekoe and Nana Kwame Asare were handed midfield duties in a traditional 4:4:2 system with Mohammed Osman and Christian Asiedu leading the attack.
The home side had the opener in the 8th minute through a well taken free kick by Isaac Afful after Osman was fouled at the right side of the away team’s box. Osman Mohammed doubled the lead with Vincent Bekoe scoring a half volley from a set up from Shaibu. Akwasi Sarpong came in 5 minutes to the end of the game to replace Nana Kwame Asare who had a knock.
The first half ended 3 nil in favor of skyy FC.
In the second half, Skyy changed the whole set up leaving only Emmanuel Assafuah and Isaac Afful only from the starting line up. Francis Oteng came in for Isaac Donkor with Ebenezer Ocran replacing Samuel Kamelah. Ibrahim Sannie, Ebenezer Mamatah, Musa Baba Hamadu replaced Osman Mohammed, Christian Asiedu and Isaac Donkor . Later, Emmanuel Eshun and Benjamin Aboagye Dacosta came in for Samuel Arthur and Shaibu Tahiru.
In the 61st minute, Dolphins had a consolation when Francis Oteng fouled their attacker in the box and the centre referee awarded a penalty. The penalty was beautifully converted.
Skyy dominated the game throughout the second half, scoring 3 goals through Emmanuel Eshun, Ibrahim Sannie and Ebenezer Mamatah.
Skyy FC will begin the second round of the DOL season with a trip to Cape Coast to play Venomous Vipers. They are second on the league table behind Goldstars after 15 matches.
