The biggest and the most celebrated masquerader’s festival in Ghana, Westside Carnival, will take off on the 25th of December 2021.
This year’s event has some excitement surrounding it due to a year break in 2020, when the Coronavirus was in full effect and had the country on lockdown.
Since the COVID-19 vaccine was made available, most Ghanaians have taken their jabs including members of the masquerader’s group since they were advised to do so. This has helped in reducing the effect of the virus and has as well reduced its effectiveness in infection.
However, at this year’s Westside Carnival, 23 solid masquerader’s groups will be representing at the event on the 25th of December to showcase their outfit, dancing moves and also educate the public on their history and other activities they engage in, aside from being a masquerader’s group.

The COVID-19 protocols will be strictly observed and the organisers of the event are entreating each and every attendee to wear a nose mask and observe social distancing as well.
