Asante Kotoko’s Executive Chairman, Kwame Kyei has been named as the club’s board chairman.

In a statement signed by Manhyia’s Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, Otumfour Osei Tutu II tasked the new board to ”rebuild the Asante Kotoko brand not only for its sporting performance but as a viable economic entity”.

The statement confirmed Mr. Jude Arthur as the Vice-Chairman of the board.

Other members on the board include Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, Kwasi Osei Ofori, Alhaji Lamine, Kwamena Mensah, Joseph Yaw Addo, Evelyn Nsiah Asare and Baffour Kwame Kusi.

The board members were initially nominated by the Prof. Lydia Nkansah Committee.

The appointments bring to an end a four-year wait for a board to be constituted.

Kyei’s appointment and Manhyia’s instructions.

In November 2016, the Manhyia Palace in the letter that confirmed Kwame Kyei’s appointment, instructed the then entrepreneur to as a matter of urgency, constitute a board to run the club.

Four years on and on the insistence of the Ghana Football Association’s Club Licensing Board, the Manhyia Palace has intervened to constitute a nine-member board ostensibly to meet licensing requirements.
