Justice Anin Yeboah nominated as new Chief Justice
The fourth longest serving Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Anin Yeboah has been nominated by the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo as the new Chief Justice. He is expected to succeed Justice Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo, who retires on December 20, 2019. As required by article 144(1) of the 1992 constitution, the President has forwarded the name of Justice Anin Yeboah to Parliament.
This was announced in parliament on Thursday by the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Osei Owusu. Justice Anin Yeboah is expected to face the appointments committee soon.
The President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo in a statement read on his behalf by Joe Osei Owusu expressed his full confidence in Justice Anin Yeboah’s capacity to eminently occupy the office of Ghana’s Chief Justice.
