Joe Ghartey to the rescue; supports 72 year retiree to rebuild collapsed building

Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, and Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey has in a swift response to the plight of 72 year old retiree; Francis Eshun, donated fifty bags of cement, a trip each of sand and quarry, and two hundred and seventy-five units of cement blocks, to support him rebuild his apartment which collapse yesterday.

The beneficiary, who is a resident at Essikado East Electoral area of the Essikado-Ketan Constituency, suffered some wounds on his feet, knee and waist, Thursday afternoon, when his hall collapsed on him. He estimates that properties including the structure that has been lost, will cost about forty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC40,000.00).

According to Mr. Eshun indicated that the structure is over 40 years old. Poor Mr. Eshun had hopes of recovering his savings from defunct GN Bank until the COVID-19 lockdown was effected, thereby frustrating his attempt to follow up his claim at their head office in Accra.

Mr. Eshun expressed his gratitude for the support granted him by the Essikado-Ketan Legislator.

“He’s done a lot for me. Not all people will have time for things like this. I really appreciate his effort, and may God bless him” he prayed.

Constituency Secretary, Thomas Amoah who presented the items on behalf of the legislator, trusted the support will alleviate the plight of the victim. He also entreated neighbours to support the victim rebuild the structure.

“When it comes to situation like this, we need everybody’s support. After bringing all of these things, he will need labour, and other things to rebuild the structure” he said.
