Joe Ghartey awarded for contributing to the reformation of Companies Law

Ghana’s Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey has been honoured by the Ghana Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Advisors (GARIA), for his contribution to the growth of company law in Ghana.

Mr. Joe Ghartey served as the 19th Attorney General, and Minister for Justice for the Republic of Ghana between 16 June 2006 and 6 January 2009; a period he dedicated his service to the development of the companies law.

Through his leadership as the Attorney General, the Justice Date-Bah Committee was established and tasked to review the law on companies in Ghana. The reformation work of this committee has yielded great dividend, with the passage of the New Companies Act, 2019 (ACT 992).

It is on this feat, and for his servitude to the reformation process for a better Ghana, that on the 1st GARIA Presidential and Fund Raising and Awards and Dinner Night, he [Joe Ghartey] was acknowledged and awarded.

The event was themed “Passage of the New Companies Act: A Booster for Ease of Doing Business in Ghana”

GARIA is an association of professionals with an interest in restructuring and insolvency established to play a leadership role in corporate restructuring, business recovery and insolvency advisory in Ghana.
